Who are your heroes?

Jesus was only 12 years old when He went with His mum and dad to Jerusalem. He sat among the wise men and was listening to the word of God, He asked sensible questions. He did not ask questions that were funny and would make the whole class laugh unnecessarily. He was not forced to go there by His parents; His goal was to know and do His father`s will (LK 2:40 –52). God expects the same of you today.

David was the youngest son of Jesse. He got angry when the Philistines challenged his God. He had victory over Goliath because he counted on God for courage. (1 Sam 17:34 –37).

David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied, (1 Sam 17:45).

Josiah was 8 years old when he became a king, at that time his father had died. Even though his father did not know God, Josiah decided to take a stand for God, he loved God and wanted to please Him (2 Chr 34:1-33). You should never allow ungodly or wicked people to influence you to do wrong.

Josiah set an example of following the Lord and the people of Judah followed his example. This is an opportunity for you also to be a godly leader in your group and allow others to follow you. The picture shows him reading the word of God to the people.

Sedrach, Meshrach and Abednego were young men that took a stand for God. They refused to bow down to worship the golden image of king Nebuchadnezzar. Even when they were told that they will be put in the burning fire, these young boys were not discouraged. When the king saw that they would not follow his evil command, he ordered his men to put them in the fire. In all this they still believed God, when they were thrown into the fire, God delivered them in a miraculous way and they were not burnt. That is exactly what happens when you trust in God. This miracle made King Nebuchadnezzer to believe in God. Allow your faith in God to bring others to Christ.

Esther was an orphan who was brought up by her uncle Mordecai. She listened to the instructions of her uncle when it was time for a queen to be chosen. She did not argue and try to prove that she knew better. Due to her obedience and divine favour of God, king Ahasurerus chose Esther to become his queen. God then used Esther to deliver her people (Jews) from untimely death (Esther 2:1-10). Esther was an obedient child of God and she fasted for 3 days. Do you fast? Esther is a good example to both girls and boys.

Would you like to be the Esther of your own generation?  Children, God has given you all these heroes so that you don`t need to look up to ungodly heroes. Allow God to glorify his name in your life, so that you can also be a hero to some
